Guitarist Miraculously Plays His Guitar In The Middle Of Brain Surgery

Li Xiaong, 57, played guitar until, in the 90s, he lost feeling in his right hand, making him unable to play. After 20 years of dealing with the neurological disease dystonia, Li found doctors who may have cured him with an intense brain surgery that required him to be awake during the procedure. In order to know exactly where to operate, the surgeons had him play guitar while his skull was open with electrodes attached to his brain to activate the affected parts. The surgery Monday has brought back 80% of his muscle use and the rest should return with physical therapy.
